ALOR SETAR: Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad has now eight hypermarkets, with the latest, opening for business at Taman Saga near here today. Mydin's Northern Branch General Manager Azmin Saduruddin said the company had spent nearly RM34 million to build the latest hypermarket. "The area is strategic due to its population base and also close to the North-South Highway," he told reporters after the hypermarket's opening ceremony.
The opening of the first hypermarket in Kedah was officiated by Mydin founder and chairman, Mydin Mohamed. "The public can also obtain 1Malaysia items at the hypermarket. We are offering 150 such items," Azmin said. He said Mydin will also be marketing products from small medium industries which are being given priority among local goods, differentiating it from other hypermarkets. "Mydin welcomes SMEs which are keen to market their products at the hypermarket," he added.
He said sales at the new hypermarket is projected at RM10 million monthly while providing job opportunities for 300 locals. -- BERNAMA
