MYDIN Mohamed Holdings Berhad, which operates 100 MYDIN stores nationwide, aims to record RM2.6 billion sales ending March 31, next year from RM2.2 billion previously, driven by the opening of new hypermarkets. Managing Director Datuk (Dr) Ameer Ali Mydin yesterday said the group currently has 10 hypermarkets and will open two more by yearend, one each in Malacca and Perak with investment of RM60 million and RM40 million, respectively.
“As for next year, we plan to open six hypermarkets, two in Johor and one each in Negeri Sembilan, Terengganu, Perak and Penang, with total investment of RM750 million. “We believe by opening more hypermarkets, it will drive our sales target.” Meanwhile, a joint statement yesterday said Maybank debit card spend at MYDIN hypermarkets grew by 50% during the “Debit To Win” campaign, compared to the four-month period prior to the campaign. The campaign, jointly organized by Maybank and MYDIN from December 15 last year to April 15 this year, offered a total of 20 monthly and 10 daily cash prizes. The campaign drew over 117,000 transactions with over 45,000 entries, which reflected that debit payment is fast becoming a common mode for shopping.
