SOME 120 people from lower income families in Selayang were each given RM50 MYDIN cash vouchers. Selayang Municipal Council councillor Eric Tan Pok Shyong, who presented these vouchers, said it was part of the RM20,000 annual allocation given to councillors, to run programmes for the people in Selayang.

“Instead of holding programmes or having a function like other councillors, I decided to use the allocation by buying Mydin vouchers and distributing to the poor people in Zone 5, which is under my charge. “I wanted the distribution to be done differently,’’ said Tan who presented the vouchers at Taman Prima Selayang last Saturday. The recipients were from Taman Prima Selayang, Taman Bidara, Taman Bukit Idaman, Taman Daya, Taman Indah Perdana and Kampung Baru Kepong Ulu.
