SUBANG JAYA, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- AmMetLife Takaful Bhd has partnered with Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd to provide takaful benefits in the form of goods, instead of cash, under its iMeriah plan. The innovative Shariah-compliant plan provided coverage in the event of death exclusively for Mydin Meriah card members aged between 18 and 49, said AmMetLife Takaful Chief Executive Officer, Noor Azam Mohd Yusof. "If a Mydin Meriah cardholder who is covered under the iMeriah plan dies, his or her nominee will be allowed to spend RM300 per month on groceries at Mydin stores nationwide, for a whole year," he told reporters after the launch of iMeriah here today. He said if the amount was not fully utilised at the end of the 12-month period, the balance would be given to the nominee in the form of Mydin vouchers. Meanwhile, Mydin Managing Director, Datuk Wira Ameer Ali Mydin, said Meriah card members needed to spend a minimum of RM600 per month at Mydin stores nationwide to qualify for coverage under iMeriah.
